Today, shade sails are a vital part of Australia’s lifestyle. ABGAL’s advanced shade sails combine a decorative outdoor structure, with superior sun protective fabric, beautifully.

ABGAL shade sails are custom-made to suit your individual requirements. Using advanced CAD systems, we specifically design the sail to your exact dimensions to ensure the right amount of tension is applied to the sail when fitted. This means that your shade sail will look great plus it will meet the fabric specifications for tensioning, ensuring a long life.

Using only the best available fabrics, which have been tested in our harsh Australian climate, ABGAL offers a large range of colours and fabric to suit your needs. Designed and shaped by sophisticated software, every sail is carefully patterned by a robotic cutter to ensure a guaranteed fit.

Our strict quality processes guarantee that stresses and strains are minimised, yet distributed throughout the sail. Our special reinforced edges with marine-grade steel cables for superior strength, complete your shade sail.

All ABGAL shade sails come with a comprehensive workmanship warranty.

How to measure?

Shades sails are custom-made and therefore the fixing points need to be measured exactly to ensure the correct fit. Using a steel tape measure, measure the distance from the fixing points and include all the diagonals from each of these points. Add to this the distance from level of all points so that a 3D design of your sail can be created.

What shape is best for me?

Maximising the amount of shade you can achieve from your new Shade Sail is an important consideration. While shape and design need to be incorporated into the design, you need to start with a shape that provides the most protection from the sun. Shade sails with at least 4 fixing points provide a greater area of shade protection and are more stable in windy conditions. Shade sails have curved edges and this should be taken into consideration when looking at the area of shade. Allow for the summer and winter solas when designing your shade sail. Use a broom handle or pool telescopic pole to check the shade from the sun at certain times of the day and plan the location of the shade around your lifestyle, giving you the greatest sun protection at the time when you are most outdoors or entertaining.

It is important to consider water run off. While most shade fabrics allow rain water to pass through, they will sag in heavy rain conditions. Diagonally opposing corners around the same height and two corners at least 600 mm higher than the other two diagonal corners gives the shade the stability in high winds and heavy rain. This ideal shape is called a ‘Hypar’ and looks good too!
